How to Select Water Well Drilling Rig

For water well drilling rig,the general requirement: simple configuration, less energy consumption, easy operation, more moveable,  Muti-functional, small size. In real application, the drilling rig selection has to be based on the stratum, hole diameter and hole depth as well as drilling method.

1. Price

The price of the machine is the key factor for people to choose the right drilling rig, and it is a one-time investment. The price of this machine increases with the increase of hole diameter and depth.
From the point of view of drilling methods, down-the-hole drilling rigs are more expensive than core drilling rigs, and the price of hydraulic drilling rigs is higher than that of vertical axis drilling rigs, which are mechanical drilling rigs.
From the perspective of mobility, truck-mounted drilling rigs are more expensive than crawler drilling rigs.

2 Operating costs

Operating costs significantly affect the profits that people can make in the drilling business. Net profit is the funds obtained by drillers from well drilling minus operating costs.
Operating costs include personnel wages, casing, mud and fuel costs, and rig maintenance costs.
From the perspective of the type of drilling rig, down-the-hole drilling rigs have higher operating costs than rotary drilling rigs that use mud pumps. Because DTH drilling rigs require air compressors, their fuel consumption is much higher. Compared with hydraulic drilling rigs, vertical drilling rigs (mechanically driven) are more economical.

3. Drilling efficiency

Drilling efficiency depends on the formation, the skills/experience of the operator, the type of drilling rig and the drilling method.
For rock conditions, the most effective method is to use a downhole drilling rig to work with an air compressor.
For the situation of soil, clay and sand, the best way is to use a drilling rig with a mud pump.
For pebbles, the reverse circulation system is the most suitable drilling method. It only needs to add a set of reverse cycle drilling tools to the existing drilling machine.

4.Drilling method

Judging from the working principle of the drilling machine, there are three main drilling methods:
The drilling method needs to be used in conjunction with the air compressor. This is a good way for rocky conditions.
Rotary drilling with mud pumps is a more economical drilling method, which is very suitable for soil, sand and clay formations. Compared with down-the-hole drilling, its drilling speed is lower.
Auger, no air compressor and mud pump are required for drilling. But it can only drill into soil, clay and sand.

From the perspective of drilling technology, we have 2 drilling methods:
Direct circulating drilling, drilling fluid (air or mud) passes through the drill pipe, and cuttings are taken through the space between the outside of the drill pipe and the hole wall.
For reverse cycle drilling, double-walled drill pipes are required. The drilling fluid passes through the space between the inner wall of the outer pipe and the outer wall of the inner pipe. For pebbles, sand, and soil geological structures, it is the most effective drilling method.

5. After-sales service

After-sales service is another key point in the selection of drilling rigs. During drilling operations, problems such as broken parts and misoperation of drilling rigs occur in the drilling rig. All of this requires timely and professional guidance from the drilling machine manufacturer. Otherwise it will affect the user’s business.

6. Availability of spare parts

People need to consider the availability of spare parts when buying drilling machines. This is part of the operating cost. If spare parts are not easy to obtain, it means you have to pay more to get it and it takes longer. All of this will definitely affect the profits of the drilling business.

7. safe

When choosing a drilling rig, safety is the first priority, including the safety of operators, service personnel, and personnel around the drilling rig during drilling and travel.
Therefore, safety guards, emergency stops, and dust collectors are needed to protect people from death or injury.

8. Environmental protection

Now all countries have raised environmental protection to a higher level, so when choosing a drilling rig, the emission level and noise level of the engine need to be considered.
The buyer needs to refer to the standard code of the country or region where the rig will be used
The above are just some basic knowledge when selecting drilling rigs. When they plan to buy correctly, it can be a guide for business initiators.
